Blake hates people—and sunlight—with good reason. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself lusting after his upstairs tenant, a sunny, Australian people pleaser down on her luck. Turns out his ability to terrify with a single scowl comes with an advantage. Autumn seems to like it. A lot. As evidenced by the prisoner-captive comic Blake was never meant to see.
As they embark on a three-date arrangement the rules are clear; filthy, ground breaking sex, no feelings or commitment required. When chemistry is this strong, though, attachment follows. As Blake and Autumn attempt to negotiate their New York romance, their prior histories and secret dreams come to the foreground. How long can these polar opposites remain Captivated, when all signs point to disaster?

Where do I begin? First off…Tessa Bailey. Man oh man, this lady drives me wild with her words. Every book I read from her is just crazy amazing. Her characters are strong- women filled with sass and men with mouths of filth…..what more could a girl ask for?? But there’s an addition to Tessa Bailey this time around. Eve Dangerfield. I’ve never read Eve Dangerfield prior to this but I have to say that the combination of these two was ah-may-zing!!!!
Autumn is an Aussie girl living in New York City. Moved from Australia with her long time boyfriend so he could pursue his career in acting. (Pretty amazing of Autumn to move halfway across the world so her man could live his dream.) But of course, Autumn’s boyfriend can’t keep it in his pants when it comes to the improv groupies (who knew there was such a thing?) and gets caught hanging out here. Now Autumn is alone in a huge city trying to live a life she’s not sure she wants and with the looming expiration of her work visa, she’s caught between sticking it out or bailing and going back to Australia. I thought Autumn was amazing. She was funny, and smart, sassy and sexy…..everything you would want your heroine to be.
And then there was Blake. Stoic, serious grumpy Blake aka The Landlord. The fact that he lusted after Autumn since Blake showed her and her boyfriend the apartment that Autumn currently rents was just so swoony. (Swoony…..is that a word? Whatevs) Blake keeps himself locked away most of the time, choosing to live a solitary life after he had some life altering events in his past. And he never moved passed those events. Just kind of lived in purgatory. Going through the motions. Until Autumn.
I loved the way that you could see the transformation in Blake. Little things…going out more during the day, feeding the pigeons (read the book you’ll get it), and generally going outside of his comfort zone more and more. Now the chemistry between these two??? *fans self* Oh momma. It was incredible!!! They were fire!!! The filthy dirty talk from Blake was enough to curl my toes and make my girlie parts all tingly!! I seriously could not get enough of these two!
I loved this author combo and am anxiously looking forward to these ladies hitting another homerun together in the near future. Pretty please? It also makes me want to look into Eve Dangerfield’s solo work to see what else I’ve been missing out on!
