How to kick off a great summer in the Hamptons:
Snag a gorgeous rental on the beach. Check.
Get a job at a trendy summer haunt. Check.
How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:
Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony looking crowd. A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season.
Check. Check. Check.
I should add—especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed God of a boss.
Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town.
Especially when he’s mean to you.
Or so I thought.
Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark.
That was sort of how it all started with Rush.
And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down.
I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me.
As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter. My summer became a lot more interesting—and complicated.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.
Rebel Heir is the first book in the Rush Series Duet. Book Two, Rebel Heart, will release six weeks later on May, 22, 2018.

3.5 out of 5 ‘Unsure’ Stars
Alright. So I have read Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, both separately and together. And while I have enjoyed them on both accounts, there are a few stories that have fallen a little flat. This particular story was a little iffy for me. I’m actually still on the fence about it. Why? Well, let me tell you.
I am a huge sucker for a great blurb. This blurb really had me going. A hot summer romance with your total badass boss? Whoooweee!! Sign me up. Forbidden love and all that. And I started to read about Rush and Gia. But I never really got the whole badass vibe from Rush; which I felt like he was portrayed that way from the blurb. He was actually really sweet and loyal and supportive. A little bit of a manwhore (prior to Gia) but I’m not judging a wealthy, young, sexy single man from doing with his life as he pleases (and when both parties know the score). And I guess it’s my own fault for assuming that this was more of a royalty thing with the whole “heir” title but it’s not. The heir in the title is referring to Rush inheriting some properties and businesses from his late grandfather. ANYway….I liked Rush and who he was even though he wasn’t the rough badass I thought he would be.
Onto Gia. I can honestly say that I’m not a huge fan of Gia. And it’s hard for me to get truly invested into a story when I don’t like one of the main characters. The worst part about not liking Gia is that I can’t quite pinpoint what it is about her that I don’t like. There’s just something. And now that I’m sitting here writing about it, I can say that I didn’t like how she kinda threw herself at Rush. Like multiple times. It was a little desperate. Like, he told you that he doesn’t mess around with his employees – more than once- and she continued to throw herself at him. IDK but I’m not that confident to continuously attempt at something when it’s clear he’s trying to maintain his professionalism. And even though that was something that I did not like about Gia’s character, it doesn’t feel like that’s it.
I was aware prior to getting involved in this that there was going to be a cliffhanger (which is not a favorite of mine). And even as I neared the end of the book and put two and two together, (I pretty much figured out which way it was going), I have to say that I am a little more than intrigued to see what happens next. I thought the direction that these ladies have decided to take with this story was truly unique and I wonder what’s in store for Rush and Gia in the conclusion; Rebel Hearts.
