I’m writing this letter because it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever garner the courage to say this to your face.
So, here goes.
We’re totally wrong for each other. You’re the proper single mum with a good head on your shoulders. I’m just the carefree British doctor passing through town and temporarily living in your converted garage until I head back to England.
But here’s the thing… for some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.
I want you.
The only reason I’m even admitting all of this to you right now is because I don’t believe it’s one-sided. I notice your eyes when you look at me, too. And as crass as I appear when we’re joking around about sex, my attraction to you is not a joke.
So, what’s the purpose of this note? I guess it’s a reminder that we’re adults, that sex is healthy and natural, and that you can find me just through the door past the kitchen. More specifically, it’s to let you know that I’m leaving said door cracked open from now on in case you’d like to visit me in the middle of the night sometime.
No questions asked.
Think about it.
Whatever you choose.
It’s doubtful I’ll even end up sliding this letter under your door anyway.
Dear Bridget, I Want You by Penelope Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
4 out of 5 ‘Take a chance” Stars
I have read a few books from the Keeland and Ward duo previously. This one is by far the best of the books I have read.
Bridget is in a place in her life….a place where starting over never seemed like an option. She is a newer widowed (2 years) young mother. She is trying to make things work, keep up with the bills, raise her son and stay positive. I honestly think that even though Bridget was content in her life, she was just going through the motions. Not really living. She probably didn’t even think that she would ever move on or move past her late husband’s tragic death. I think it’s difficult to get past a death of someone who is so close to you and your everyday life. A person who has a presence in your life still; whether it be by memories or the face of your son looking back at you.
Simon is the sexy, young new British doctor that finishing up his residency and plans to return back home to England once he’s finished. His plan is to keep things casual (for the rest of his life) and just have fun. I enjoyed Simon’s playful personality and self-assuredness even though there were times that internally he was feeling anything but. He also has a tragic past, hence why he chooses to live life without attachments, but deals with his tragedy quite differently than Bridget does.
There are times that you never saw the other person coming. Times when you didn’t even realize you needed something until it was right in front of you. Like the universe decided for you. Bridget and Simon tried to resist what was happening between them . They knew that they were very wrong for each other considering they were both on very different paths in life. Their coming together was almost unavoidable. And although there were times that I wanted to smack both of them upside the head and tell them to get with it, the ending was sooooo worth the wait.
I was definitely into this book more than previous Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward pair ups.
